Lead Engineer

Own the technology end to end — take the Open Accountancy Practice prototype to production and lead engineering as it scales across every firm we acquire.

Head of M&A and Integration

Run acquisition and integration — close the deals, then carry every acquired firm through transition.

The Company

We rebuild firms with AI from the inside.

GIH is building an operating group. Its first platform, Open Accountancy, focuses on UK accountancy. Our proposed model is to acquire 65% of a practice, with local partners retaining 35%, and improve the business through our own software, evaluations and operational support. We are developing the software, working with design partners and pursuing the first acquisition.

A live origination engine

40,000+ UK firms scanned and scored for succession and AI-readiness, surfacing 8,300+ high-conviction targets — already in live outreach, with our first seller in conversation.

A working AI platform

Open Accountancy Practice has functional software and demo workflows. The wider Open Accountancy platform also includes synthetic testing and benchmarks. The next step is to validate live integrations and operating outcomes with design partners.

Open Role · Engineering

Lead Engineer.

We can get a product 80% of the way there. We need a lead engineer who owns the other 20% — and everything after it.

Founding role Full-time Significant equity

What you’ll own

The architecture

Turn the prototype into a secure, multi-tenant, production-grade platform that real regulated firms run live client data through.

The AI

Agentic accounting, VAT and bookkeeping workflows with human-in-the-loop review, source-linked outputs, and an eval layer that proves automation rates honestly — core to our edge, because we measure what others won’t.

The data flywheel

Use authorised work evidence and accountant corrections to improve Open Accountancy Practice and the tests in Open Accountancy. Own the model strategy and prove the improvement in verified outcomes.

Integrations

Open Banking, Xero, Sage, QuickBooks and FreeAgent, plus HMRC MTD and Agent Services APIs.

The team

Hire and lead engineering as GIH scales across acquired practices.

Who you are

“You don’t need to know accounting. I’ll bring the domain and the deals; you bring the engineering.”

  • A hands-on senior, staff or principal engineer — or a prior startup CTO who still writes code from day one, not just manages.
  • A track record of production AI/LLM systems, ideally at a high-growth fintech, applied-AI company, or top-tier engineering org.
  • Comfortable taking 0→1 prototypes to scale, operating with ambiguity and speed.
  • Bonus: fintech, regtech or accounting-data background; eval infrastructure, multi-tenant SaaS, or sensitive-data compliance experience.

Package

Significant equity and full ownership of the technology. A founding technical seat at an AI-native holding company with software in development, an acquisition pipeline and fundraising under way.

Open Role · M&A

Head of M&A and Integration.

You are not an advisor to this process; you are accountable for it, deal after deal. As the platform compounds, you’ll have run more AI-era integrations than anyone in the market — because you’ll have written the method.

Founding role Full-time Founding-team equity

What you’ll run

Sourcing and closing

Own deal origination through to signature, working alongside the live origination engine.

The first 100 days

Own the integration of every acquired firm from close — client retention through transition, and staff continuity.

Migration onto the stack

Move each practice onto our operating stack without breaking what made it work.

The integration playbook

Write the method, and eventually build and lead the team that runs it.

Who you are

“Deal execution skills matter; integration scars matter more.”

  • You have personally integrated acquired businesses — plural — and can walk us through what you owned post-close: the systems cutover, the staff decisions, the clients you kept and the ones you lost and why.
  • You likely come from a serial acquirer or consolidator (software, insurance brokerage, accountancy, IT or business services), a buy-and-build operating role in private equity, or you’ve run a roll-up yourself.
  • You have firm opinions about what the consolidation wave got wrong.
  • You can hold the room with a 64-year-old selling founder in the morning and an AI engineer in the afternoon.

Package

Founding-team equity — this seat sits at the centre of the business and the ownership reflects it. Market cash compensation from close of our current round, with a paid advisory engagement available before close for the right person. Incentives are tied to what integration is actually for: client and revenue retention twelve months post-close, not deal count.
